An update from the community on the ground in Lahaina
Alano Club of Lahaina

I write to you from West Maui with a heavy heart on behalf of the Board of Directors for the Alano Club.

Our beloved Alano Club has burned in the fire. And, our sign miraculously made it!

While our hearts are heavy as we pick up the pieces of our lives and homes in the next weeks, months and years we remain strong.

Our recovery community here has come together in a way I have never before seen. Through the grace of Alcoholics Anonymous we have learned to serve others first and trust the process, and our Alano Club members are out doing just that.

Many of us are scattered around the island attending meetings, volunteering, making hauls of supplies to the west-side and helping each other and strangers.

Many of us have lost our homes, jobs, and possibly loved ones. Alongside all of this we have lost our Alano Club which has been a safe place for many people throughout Hawaii and our beloved visitors around the globe.

We have had many people from around the globe reaching out and cannot respond to inquiries. If you and your recovery community would like to help us you can donate directly on our website here.

Thank you so much to everyone for all your love and support,

Emily and the Board of Directors

Also here is a Message From Patrick, a Board member as well as Griffin, Devan and Andrew.

"Hi Fam! Just checking in for the night — we are all safe and back at our Haiku home. Decompressing, eating a great meal and having a little fun before bed. Today was a good day. The gang says a big thank you for helping us all get our FEMA registration done, we all feel so much more received having done that — big turning point of the day!

Half the team was working War Memorial Shelter, which is the largest of the shelters. We are the staging point for all of the supplies to that are going out to all areas of need, as well as the largest refugee camp on the island. It is amazing what the community is accomplishing and the piles of donations are filling up entire fields. I will send some video later. The other half was doing runs to Costco and Walmart getting the most needed items that people aren’t thinking to bring like shower kits and underwear. They also ran completely out of baby formula so we got them a Tacoma full of baby food and formula. We are working directly with the head of donation inventory and she and I are in text contact so we will have updates on what is most needed. Luckily, outside aide is on the way but we will continue until it arrives.

Tomorrow we are going to Maalaea in the early AM to load boats bound for the Westside where people are still camped/trapped. Those of us who are strong swimmers will be going on the boats to unload supplies and help evac people out. We are setting the alarm for 6am our time so I will update you in the morning!

Love you guys so much and I’m grateful we all got to talk today!! I’m doing well, and felt better and better all day long as we all talked. Feeling much more settled now as we wind down. Looking forward to a good nights sleep. Talk to you guys in the morning. Love you and hope you are doing well!! ❤️❤️"
